Quarantine #20

Another day at home means another day of experimenting new dishes.

It’s been three weeks since I started working from home. Keeping positivity in mind, I look to food for inspiration! Creating the perfect blend of spices, ingredients and taste requires a trained taste buds and this is what I embark to experiment during my Quarantine days.

The most important tool to making my food experimenting a success is the kitchenware equipment, with the right tools, you’ll get to get anything done in matter of minutes. Arshia (@Arshia_de) (@Arshia_UAE) has all the kitchenware gadgets needed to making your favorite recipe come true.

Today I was craving for something that will fill my appetite but is also packed with the vitamins and minerals that I need for strengthening my immune system. Considering how we are still in the middle of a pandemic, we need to make sure we eat nutritious meals that will boost our immune system.

Egg Base, White Rice, Grilled Salmon and mashed tomato with herbs and spices

Off to my pantry, I checked out all the available food products that I can use to create a balanced healthy meal. My eyes got glued to the eggs and tomatoes in one of the cupboards. Eggs are rich in protein that can help in immune-related problems and Tomatoes are known for its lycopene, a very effective antioxidant. All I needed to add is another protein and luckily, I have a salmon in my fridge. Salmon is packed with omega 3 which is good for the heart.

Preparing this meal was a walk in the park. I first cooked white rice using my Arshia Digital Rice Cooker. The good thing about cooking with the Digital Rice Cooker is that you can leave it without worrying about burning/ overcooking and move on with the other things that you need to do.

Using fresh tomatoes, I pan grilled the tomatoes and waited for the skin to be a little charred. As soon as the tomatoes are cooked and the skin starts to peel off, I took them out of the pan and soak them in iced bath. Soaking them in ice bath made it easy for me to Preparing this meal was a walk in the park. I first cooked white rice using my Arshia Digital Rice Cooker. The good thing about cooking with the Digital Rice Cooker is that you can leave it without worrying about burning/ overcooking and move on with the other things that you need to do.

Now, the tomatoes were ready for the Arshia hand blender. I added herbs, spices and few dashes of salt and pepper to the tomatoes to enhance its flavors. After a few pulses with the hand blender, voila, an instant all-natural tomato sauce.

Cooking Salmon is something that I have mastered over time. First thing to I do is to season the salmon with salt and pepper (according to taste) and drizzle olive oil on top of it. Heat the grill pan and wait till the temperature is just right for cooking. Put the seasoned salmon on the heated pan. The trick about cooking salmon is evident in its color. Salmon is usually translucent and will turn opaque as it cooks.

The last step was to cook a sunny side up egg. I made sure that the egg’s yolk is a little runny in the middle. After doing all of this the last thing I needed to do is to set it all up and add a basil leaf as a garnish.

Salmon, tomatoes, eggs and rice are usual staples you might have in your kitchen. Following the easy steps, I shared, I’m sure that anyone could do the same or even better.

I had a great time creating this recipe and cooking time was made easy by these cookware and equipment, just like always!

Until next meal preparation, ciao.
